Our small team has built a national reputation for taking on and winning precedent setting 'David and Goliath' cases to further the protection of the environment.

Job Description

We seek a paralegal to support the lawyers in the firm. 

 

Duties will include preparation of court papers and bundles; preparation of witness statements; travelling to the courts and counsels' chambers to lodge papers if necessary; attending court hearings and client meetings to take notes (this could be in person or virtually); answering the telephone and dealing with initial enquiries from prospective clients; and general administrative duties such as filing, scanning and archiving. Applicants can expect to become increasingly involved with the legal aspects of the role as they gain experience of the kind of work we do.

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated environmental lawyer to help us establish Scotland's only law centre for environmental justice. A key objective in the first year is to establish ERCS Law Practice as a not-for-profit law firm. Together with the Principal Solicitor / Legal Director, you will be a partner in the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) through which ERCS will deliver its legal services. You will provide clients with comprehensive legal advice and representation, in all aspects of environmental law, in a way which is practical, meaningful and easily understood; and identify opportunities to undertake strategic litigation.
